Naftemporiki featured an interview with Savvas Savvaidis, President & CEO of Greece Sotheby's International Realty, conducted by Michalis Psilos, in which he set out why luxury housing has become a strategic asset for Greece.
Savvaidis described a market entering a new phase of maturity, with demand no longer confined to well-known islands or holiday homes as more buyers choose Greece for long-term, year-round living.
He characterized this new buyer profile as the "Romantic Affluent" — a category defined less by display and more by a search for quality of life, culture and authenticity, drawn to homes that respect the landscape and carry a sense of place.
He also pointed to Greece's coastline, longer than Italy, France and Spain combined, and its largely undeveloped, authentic character as a distinguishing advantage over other Mediterranean markets.
On the wider economic case, he noted that each luxury sale brings capital, tax revenue and investment into renovations, local suppliers and the arts, positioning the sector as a driver of local economies rather than a niche category.
"True luxury in housing is not based on volume, but on authenticity, architectural care and human connection." — Savvas Savvaidis, President & CEO of Greece Sotheby's International Realty
