The New York Times | $1.5 Million Homes in Crete

The New York Times featured Aerope, a historic residence represented by Greece Sotheby’s International Realty, in its international real estate series exploring what approximately $1.5 million can buy in Crete.

Located in the heart of Rethymno’s Old Town, the three-storey home is offered at €1.35 million. Set behind the historic Rimondi Fountain, the three-bedroom residence has been restored while retaining original stonework, arches and architectural details.

A landscaped courtyard with bougainvillea and an orange tree forms the centre of the home, while balconies and an upper-floor terrace overlook the surrounding Old Town.

The feature also places the property within Rethymno’s wider historic setting, from its Venetian harbour and Renaissance façades to the monuments and narrow streets that define one of Crete’s best-preserved old towns.
