Proto Thema featured Greece Sotheby's International Realty's third Market Report, highlighting the Athenian Riviera's continued dominance in Greece's luxury real estate market and the sharp rise in buyer conversion during 2024.
According to the report, the Athenian Riviera retained the top spot in buyer demand in 2024, accounting for 17% of total requests, while the conversion rate of on-site viewings to sales rose from 6.5% in 2023 to 14.2% in 2024 (per GSIR's Market Report).
Greek buyers led international demand for the first time, representing 16% of activity, closely followed by US buyers also at 16% and UK buyers at 17% growth year-on-year.
The report attributed the shift to post-2023 political stability, Greece's investment-grade credit upgrades, and a limited supply of high-quality inventory driving faster purchasing decisions among both international and diaspora buyers.
Savvas Savvaidis, President & CEO of Greece Sotheby's International Realty, told the Athens-Macedonian News Agency that the Athenian Riviera's rise reflects sustained, targeted positioning rather than organic tourism growth.
"Our contribution is not just reflected in sales figures…" he said, describing the broader role of coordinated marketing in establishing Greece's luxury market over the past decade.
