Lockdowns, social distancing and wearing masks in all outdoor spaces, along with a nation of people that largely comply and accept all measures and guidelines with good grace, seems to be working in Greece where, as shown on the Financial Times graph below, the curve is levelling out.

With the vaccine being rolled out, and the end game now within sight, step-by-step more and more restrictions will be lifted allowing the economy to start to recover.

Greeks are famously social but their strong family values meant that in the main restrictions were adhered to. The understanding that we are all interconnected and that our behaviour could have a devastating effect has paid off. We expect before long that the coffee shops will soon be busy and vibrant once more and that we can once again enjoy spending time with one another.

We look forward to the spring and summer with hope knowing that we will soon meet again.
