Fortune Greece | Savvas Savvaidis: Luxury Homes and a Way of Life

Savvas Savvaidis, President & CEO of Greece Sotheby's International Realty

In an interview with Fortune Greece and journalist Konstantina Chelidoni (November 2025 issue), Savvas Savvaidis, President & CEO of Greece Sotheby's International Realty, set out the trends shaping the global luxury residential market and the reasons Greece stands apart among Mediterranean destinations.

Drawing on the company's proprietary data, he placed Greek prices alongside their international peers — the Athens Riviera at €10,500 per square metre against Dubai's €12,700, Mykonos at €10,800 against Ibiza's €11,600, Corfu at €9,000 against Mallorca's €9,900 — and noted that Greece holds 2.8% of the Mediterranean luxury stock while 65% of prospective buyers benchmark it against Italy, the South of France and Spain. He described the three tiers of today's buyer, from first-time luxury purchasers under €2 million to collectors of trophy assets above €6 million, the return of Greek purchasers after a fifteen-year absence, and the role of the Non-Dom regime as the United Kingdom retires its own.

"The challenge is to invest in quality, infrastructure and strategic positioning," Savvas Savvaidis said, describing a market that offers entry to a way of life — authentic, high in quality and lasting.

The full findings on Greece's positioning against international peer markets, buyer tiers, and Non-Dom demand appear in Voices of Affluence, the firm's flagship study of the ultra-affluent Greek buyer.
