Handelsblatt | Demand for luxury apartments in Greece is growing

Handelsblatt, Germany’s leading financial newspaper, published an analysis of the Greek luxury real estate market following the release of our proprietary research, Voices of Affluence.

In the article “Luxury Apartments in Greece Are Becoming Increasingly Sought After,” journalist Gerd Höhler writes that “foreign buyers used to look for traditional holiday homes; today Greece is competing at the very top end with Mallorca, Ibiza, and Tuscany.”

The analysis is grounded in our Voices of Affluence research, which examines ultra-high-net-worth buyer behavior and Sotheby’s International Realty transaction data.

As Höhler notes, “In recent years, Greece has evolved on the international real estate market from a niche destination into one that is comparable with Italy, France, and Spain,” quoting Savvas Savvaidis, President & CEO of Greece Sotheby’s International Realty.

The article documents rising values in Mykonos, Corfu, and the Athenian Riviera.

It also observes that demand is increasingly driven by authenticity, lifestyle quality, and long-term confidence.

A decade ago, this positioning would have been unlikely. Today, it is measurable.
