Greece's national news agency, Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA-MPA), published an analysis by Savvas Savvaidis, President & CEO of Greece Sotheby's International Realty, on Sunday, 27 September 2026, under the title "Who Is the Romantic Affluent Reshaping Greece's Luxury Home Market". The piece was carried across Greek financial and news media.
The wire set out the buyer Savvaidis calls the 'Romantic Affluent:' clients who begin with a way of life and choose the destination second, drawn to meaning, culture, privacy and a direct relationship with the sea. Greece, he argues, holds a significant comparative advantage in islands and mainland villages where human scale, family life and local identity endure.
The analysis places Greece at 2.8% of the Mediterranean's luxury housing stock, with a median price approaching €2 million, among the region's most valuable markets: compact in volume, high in value. [figures as of 2025]
Tinos stands as the case study, now one of Greece's most compelling second home markets with its villages, living marble craft and natural coastline preserved. On the Athens Riviera, a new coastal park, fresh residential development and marinas from Zea to Vouliagmeni link life in a European capital with the sea, sailing and the islands of the Saronic and the Cyclades.
Savvaidis closes on growth: Greece should develop selectively, protecting what makes it rare.
"Vision matters more than volume."
