Santorini

Santorini is one of the most enchanting islands of the world. Located in the Cyclades in the Aegean Sea it is reachable via sea (duration of travel from the port of Piraeus ranges from 4 to 9 hours, depending on the type of the ship) as well as via air (duration of flight from The Athens International Airport is approximately 40 minutes).

One of the most romantic and luxurious destinations, Santorini offers a breathtaking view to one of the few active volcanoes of our times. Being a place of huge geological interest it attracts researchers from all over the world, seeking to observe nascent volcanic activity of the underwater volcano, while daily excursions are organized to the islands created by the volcano, offering one the opportunity to visit the crater.

Santorini’s volcano has erupted many times and its eruptions have been linked to major historical events, such as the devastation of Minoan civilization, the Exodus of the Israelites from Egypt and the disappearance of Atlantis. However, these theories haven’t been confirmed as the volcanic activity has hidden its secrets in the bottom of the Aegean Sea. The archaeological site of Akrotiri, also known as the Pompeii of the Aegean, reveals an ancient settlement that was entombed in the ash of the volcano.

The island has a distinct architectural character that combines Cycladic colors of white and blue to the building style of “Hyposkapha” that refers to houses being dug into the rock. The picturesque and atmospheric settlements of Oia and Fira radiate a unique aura of awe and breathtaking beauty that one can experience to its wholeness by walking along the caldera, on the route that links the two settlements.

Luxurious infinity pools, small terraces, where romantic dinners are served under moonlight, along with the incomparable sunset view from the island create the absolute romantic experience. Deservedly, Santorini is considered one of the most romantic wedding and honeymoon destinations of the world.
