Porto Heli

Porto Heli is a luxurious seaside resort, located in Peloponnese, at 85km from Nafplio and 180km from Athens, in the region of Argolida. It is reachable by car (estimated travel time from Athens approximately 2.5 hours) as well as by ship (estimated travel time from the port of Piraeus approximately 2.5 hours). Small boats link Porto Heli to the islands of the Argosaronic Gulf, while its well-organized port makes it the ideal destination for yacht owners.

In ancient times, the main occupation of the residents of the region was fishing porphyry shells, processing them and exporting the renowned Hermione purple product that was sold at a premium price. This expertise along with the production of olive oil and exceptional wine, the local Acropolis and the natural shape of the port made Porto Heli a famous city.

In Porto Heli one can visit “Cave Franchthi”, one of the most important caves of Europe and Eastern Mediterranean, where the oldest complete human skeleton in Greece was discovered, ageing between 8.000 and 10.000 years old. Also, in the area there are many small villages and monuments, ideal for daily excursions. Indicatively, one could mention the church of “Aghia Triada” that was built in 1244 and is the oldest byzantine monument of Greece, as well as the fishing village “Koilada”, renowned for its tasteful shrimps.

Porto Heli offers many opportunities for outdoor activities, such as water skiing, scuba diving, fishing, hiking, and swimming. Its coastline combines sandy and pebbly beaches with crystal clear waters, having a total length of 80 kilometers. Moreover, the islands of Hydra and Spetses, due to their geographic proximity, are considered part of the broader region.

Porto Heli, due to its cosmopolitan aura and natural beauty, has attracted many celebrities, who have built or purchased luxurious villas in the area as second homes.
