I am an E.U Citizen; am I eligible to purchase a property in Greece?
Yes. The process is the same for an E.U national as it is for a Greek citizen.

I am a NON EU National. Do any restrictions apply to the purchase of real estate?
Restrictions apply only for Non-EU citizens who wish to purchase property in border areas (East Aegean, Dodecanese Islands, regions of Northern Greece and Rhodes). An application must be made to the Greek Ministry of Defence to grant authorisation. This is now a much simplified and straightforward procedure.

What are the requirements to lifting the ban in order to buy property in a border region?

It is necessary under article 27 Law 1892/1990, that for the purchase of real estate in Rhodes, a STATUTORY PERMIT (ΑΔΕΙΑ ΠΑΡΑΜΕΘΟΡΙΟΥ) should be issued in the name of the NON EUROPEAN buyer. It is necessary to provide;
A.- The Land Registry particulars of the property (which can be obtained from the vendor) and the intended use of the property.\
B.- The following documentation must be provided in the name of the buyer, issued by the appropriate Russian and Greek Consulate Authorities.
· Copy of Buyer’s valid passport (ΔΙΑΒΑΤΗΡΙΟ)
· Buyer’s Updated Criminal Record Certificate (ΠΟΙΝΙΚΟ ΜΗΤΡΩΟ)
· Buyer’s Statutory Declaration (ΥΠΕΥΘΥΝΗ ΔΗΛΩΣΗ Ν. 159/1986) that there is no criminal conviction against him/her.
· Buyer’s Power of attorney (ΕΙΔΙΚΟ ΠΛΗΡΕΞΟΥΣΙΟ) issued by the Greek Consulate Authorities in the name of the appointed lawyer to allow the APPLICATION to be signed in the buyer’s name.
C.- All above documents to be certified with an APOSTILE and officially translated in to the Greek language.
D.- The following information will also be required by the person making the application;
